Mullein Elixir
Mullein is an exceptional lung tonic that is helpful for a variety of respiratory complaints. Its fuzzy wooly leaves are super healing to lung tissue. It is an expectorant and helps relieve a spasmodic cough. It is soothing to lung tissue that feels inflamed. It is also a wonderful remedy for a smoker’s cough, and as well as wildfire smoke exposure. When you have a dry, painful cough that feels hard and stuck, that’s when you reach for mullein! If your cough is wet and boggy, you may want to try Goldenrod Tincture instead.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, grief is said to be stored in the lungs. Oftentimes, people smoke to subconsciously try to relieve that grief by “touching” it in the lung tissue. Interestingly, mullein is well known as an ally for softening grief.
I feel like sitting with the plant in its flowering stage really demonstrates this ability to provide steady softness through the hardest of times. Its stalk points unwaveringly upward, a pillar of strength, with sweet soft fuzzy leaves flowing from its base. I feel so much comfort in the presence of mullein, and I feel like I captured that feeling in this elixir.
I gathered leaves from a towering and majestic mullein plant that grew well above my head on my land in Connecticut. Once they were tinctured and strained, I added some raw CT honey for added demulcent and antibacterial properties. The result is soooo yummy and supportive.
You can take 1-3 droppers full at a time for acute respiratory complaints or you can take a few drops at a time to access mullein’s emotional support.
2oz bottle
Ingredients: wild crafted CT mullein leaves, vodka, CT raw honey
